National university rating and international benchmarking for Thailand

CHEProjekteNational university rating and international benchmarking for Thailand

Project objective: To develop and implement a national rating system for Thai higher education institutions and an international benchmarking tool for systematically comparing Thai higher education institutions with those in Europe and OECD countries. This is based on the further development of proven indicators from U-Multirank and their integration into the new EHESO framework (European Higher Education Sector Observatory).

Background: The Thai higher education system strives to make academic performance more visible nationally and internationally. In recent years, Thai universities have actively participated in U-Multirank, a global higher education comparison tool that was funded by the European Commission until 2022. This project draws on previous experience to create a sustainable performance evaluation system.

Project components:

  1. National rating system
  2. International benchmarking tool
  3. Performance dimensions

The rating and benchmarking system is based on the following dimensions:

  • Teaching & Learning
  • Research
  • Knowledge Transfer
  • Social dimension (inclusion & diversity)
  • International Orientation
  • Regional Engagement

Database & data collection:

  • Institutional online survey
    – Data collection at Thai universities on students, graduates, staff, financing and other university-related aspects.
  • Student survey
    – Survey on the learning experience of students in Thailand.
